New to Sectors?
Sector bets are an excellent way to take advantage of strength or weakness in a particular industry.
They allow you to pinpoint a sector and target gains without diluting your profits with the performance of the rest of the index. At the same time they also offer some protection against company-specific news that can see individual shares buck the overall trend of their sector.
You can learn more about Sectors, including what constitutes a sector and the advantages of spread betting on them by reading the Sector FAQs page.
Wide range of sectors
We offer bets on every sector represented on the FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 stock indices. The FTSE 250 itself is also classed as a sector for spread betting purposes.

Types of bet
There are two types of bet available on our sectors: Daily Funded Bets and Futures bets. A short-term Daily bet allows you to profit from immediate movement in a sector, while a Futures bet gives you long-term exposure to a particular sector.

Expand your knowledge
We offer a range of news, analysis and commentary to help you keep on top of the latest movements in the financial markets. The Market Update is written by our in-house experts and provides insight into recent news affecting the FTSE, often with a particular focus on individual sectors.
Sign up for our Monday Morning Briefing email, which lists key economic releases and company announcements scheduled for the week ahead. You may find this useful in gauging the likely direction of a particular sector. For example, if you notice that two big-name FTSE 100 miners are reporting quarterly results on consecutive days and feel they will set the tone for the wider sector, you may wish to take a view with a sector bet.
